Just one day after Jo Swinson was announced as the new leader of the Liberal Democrats, the country is awaiting the news of who will be the new leader of the Conservative Party.
Much as I was personally invested in yesterday's announcement, I was one of the 47,997 Liberal Democrat members who voted for Jo, it is undeniable that today's announcement is of significant importance to everyone in the country.
The suggestion is still that Boris Johnson is the favourite to win the vote and Minsters have been resigning, or announcing their intentions to resign, in preparation for the the expected announcement.
If, as has been suggested, the Conservative party members who had the power to decide who would be our new Prime Minister delayed casting their vote until they had seen the two candidates face each other, then there is a realistic chance that Jeremy Hunt could succeed Theresa May in the role.
We can but hope...
