I have to say that I was quite surprised when the Metropolitan Police announced today, Thursday 15th October 2020, that it was not pursuing charges against Margaret Ferrier, the Scottish MP who travelled to Westminster and back to Scotland whilst infected with COVID-19.
It seems that their decision has been made because she took her test before the requirement to self-isolate was made a legal requirement. This may well be the case, but her journey from Westminster back to Scotland happened after the requirements became law.
That journey, using public transport, was done in the full knowledge that she was infected with COVID-19, that her actions posed a risk to other commuters and to rail staff and that her actions were in breach of the law.
Given her job as an MP and the fact she was attending a debate on the coronavirus, there can be no doubt of her guilt.
The case has now been left in the hands of Police Scotland, who I hope will do a better job in respect of he decision making.
Ferrier continues to show staggering contempt for the law, for her role as an MP, for her old party, the SNP, and for her constituents. Quite how she can defend continuing in her role is beyond me.
