So, apparently, we now have some 'experts' who are alleging that COVID tests are being faked; that people who do not have the virus are requesting tests and then deliberately wasting them by sending them back without taking the test properly - or at all.
Before moving onto any other aspect, I think it's worth reflecting on the fact that there are people who have been unable to obtain a test promptly, at times when their circumstances mean they have a justifiable need to have one, and yet idiots like these are deliberately and criminally wasting resources.
This seems to me to be yet another case of conspiracy theorists who are spreading their false and dangerous stories. Their aim is to convince those who are keen conspiracy theorists to share the message. In addition, they target those who wish to deny the existence of COVID and will grasp anything that supports their inherent bias.
This muppet has 4,823 'friends' and 2,655 'followers' on Facebook. His post about the COVID test has received over 6,700 comments and 25,437 shares.
In my opinion, his ability to, potentially, influence large numbers of people is a serious issue.
The fact that some people will listen to the dangerous lies spread by absolute idiots on social media is quite disturbing. What has the world come to when people listen to 'influencers' that have no real knowledge and, it seems, a lack of interest in actually using critical analysis when presenting their 'ideas'?
I realise that some people might say that I've got a cheek criticising others for sharing their 'opinions', when that is exactly what I do through this medium. The difference is, I believe, that I am not spreading lies and misinformation and am not posing a risk to people's health with my posts. I don't present things as facts, unless they are actually facts.
Given the fact that there have been COVID deniers who have, having previously disputed the existence of the pandemic, contracted the virus and died as a result, you would hope that these ridiculous claims might dissipate. Sadly, this doesn't appear to be the case.
There still seems to be a significant number of people who desperate to cling onto conspiracy theories.
Ricky Gervais tweeted, almost seven years ago, about how stupid people live in their bubble; blissfully unaware that they are in fact stupid and seemingly disinterested in the pain and frustration they cause to those around them.
I sincerely hope that this idiot is made to pay for the wasted tests and faces prosecution for obtaining goods (the test itself) through deception.
