We currently live in a period of constant change and unnerving threat.
Some are complaining about the restrictions placed upon our civil liberties, some are refusing to comply with the guidance being provided to us.
The police are being criticised for asking people to adhere to the rules we're being asked to follow. Personally, I am grateful for their diligence.
Amongst all this uncertainty, it is wonderful to see positivity and community spirit.
When Fiona and Adam Gordon found their wedding arrangements were being thrown into disarray by the pandemic, they didn't complain about the unfairness of it all; even though it would have been understandable.
Instead, they decided to gift the food that should have been served at their wedding breakfast to hospital workers.
That was pretty amazing and I sincerely believe this is 'just' one example of the beautiful compassion shown by those whose dreams (such as a perfect wedding') have been affected by the coronavirus disease.
The fact that 6,000 mental health professionals have volunteered to provide some level of support to those affected by the pandemic is fantastic. Â It really is. Â Obviously our jubilance at such support is tempered by the fact that the American health care system is massively unfair and has already lead to unnecessary deaths.
I'm going to focus on more positive stories found on instagram.com/goodnews_movement with a few screenshots:
Avraham Mintz, a Jewish paramedic, looks towards Jerusalem whilst his colleague, a Muslim paramedic named Zoher Abu Jamal, kneels and faces Mecca for his prayers in a rare break; whilst they work together treating patients affected by coronavirus.
The positive power of those who can put their similarities ahead of their differences is quite powerful; in a really positive way.
There's a lot of negativity in the world at the moment, and a lot of it is focused on hate for others.
We should celebrate the positivity whenever we can.
