One of the sectors I have been suggesting will encounter difficulties as a result of Brexit is the care home industry.
Some have suggested that this was just 'more scaremongering' and that care homes would be able to still attract the right staff from the EU and would also be able to find suitable staff from the UK workforce.
Clearly it is still 'early days', but this announcement is most likely a sign of what we should expect.
As I write this, I have the House of Commons Live on my TV, with the Prime Minister belligerently repeating the same thing about a people's vote. So many MPs from both sides of the house are asking the same, or similar, questions; including pointing out the significant amount of support from the British public for a 'final vote. Her response? We gave the people a vote, they voted, they must now put up with the outcome.
It's as if she has no ability to understand that the public, when casting their votes in the referendum, were not voting for the complete shambles we are currently presented with.
Imagine a group of us, deciding to eat together but aware we all had to eat the same meal, looked at the options and voted in the majority to have cod & chips with mushy peas. We put the order in. We then find out that we can't get hold of cod (just pilchards) there are no chips and we can only get baked beans, not mushy peas.
I get the impression that PM May would insist we still ate fish & chips; not allowing us to consider the scampi & fries with sweetcorn that 9/20 chose - 10/20 chose the cod and one just said they'd eat whatever was agreed.
.
Stupid analogy, no doubt. But I am really tired and am developing a headache, so I'm going to stick with it.
