'Neo-Nazi' Jailed for Eight Years

All extremism is wrong!

When the extremists are privileged white men who have not faced any form of persecution or discrimination in their lives, and who haven't been driven into the arms of extremists by such action, it is all the more deplorable.

We have, in this country, far too many racists, Islamaphobes and other xenophobic bigots. If they are not dealt with at an early stage, we will have more cases like this where they threaten to murder blacks, Jews and other minorities and where they plot to assassinate politicians to further their sick agenda.

In this case, neo-nazi Jack Renshaw has been found of preparing acts of terrorism. He faces years in jail, although his sentence is not yet know (as far as I'm aware).

Renshaw had planned to murder his local MP and a female police officer. He was stopped when a disillusioned member of the banned organisation National Action leaked information to HOPE not hate, who shared the information with the police. Had this 'disillusioned member' not lost his faith in the activity of National Action and, in particular, Renshaw, it is possible the plot to kill Rosie Cooper, MP for West Lancashire, would have been successful.

In addition to a guilty verdict for Renshaw, Christopher Lythgoe (the leader of the nazi 'National Action' terrorist group) and another prominent member Matthew Hankinson were been found guilty of membership of a banned organisation. They've been jailed for eight and six years respectively.

If you know someone who is espousing racial or religious hatred, speak up. Challenge them on their bigoted views and explain why xenophobia is wrong.

If you think there is a risk of a crime; if their mutterings become an attempt to incite hatred against others or if you believe someone may be in danger, inform the police.

Remember: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men [and women] do nothing".
