A solicitor who spent decades defending a series of paedophiles in court has been jailed for sexually assaulting six children. Michael Pulsford, 68, abused three boys and three girls while he was a Christian youth group leader between 1974 and 1989. The victims, who were aged between 12 and 15, were abused in Wiltshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Pulsford admitted 16 counts of indecent assault. He was sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison.
Southampton Crown Court heard Pulsford groomed children while he was viewed as a 'pillar of the community' during summer camps, at his home and in his office. He told one victim, 12, that the attack took place because he was ‘pretty’. The court heard that Pulsford started abusing the children, who were part of church group the Crusaders, now known as Urban Saints, when was 23-years old. He admitted 16 counts of indecent assault between 1974 and 1989.
Pulsford's LinkedIn page boasts of his legal prowess, even alluding to his defence of sexual predators:
"I was one of the first thirty Solicitors in England to acquire Higher Rights to practise Criminal Law in the Crown Court, and higher Courts of Appeal. I have represented clients charged with large-scale fraud, arson with intent to endanger life, rape and other serious sexual offences, aggravated burglary, robbery and grievous bodily harm as well as violent disorder and other public order offences. I conduct trials in the Crown Court on a frequent basis."
This means that this degenerate not only committed crimes against children, but then actively defended other paedophiles against prosecution for their abuse. Did he get a kick out of defending 'like minded' perverts? Did he actively seek out sexual predators as clients, using his own experience as a tool to help him win cases?
Whatever the case, it seems that six months for each of the indecent assaults he admitted to is far too lenient a punishment.
