Stop the scaremongering they said. Have a positive outlook they said.
Each time a new story about the impact of Brexit on jobs, security, the economy, personal mobility etc. is published, the Brexiteers will again repeat their dogged message; "we voted leave, we must leave!" They still don't, in spite of repeated requests, offer any arguments for leaving the EU that stand up to substantive investigation.
Control of our borders is something we already had in our grasp and it is not the EU's fault that we haven't taken advantage of our privileged situation.
Sovereignty over our laws is another nonsense reason given by so many, given we have had the power of veto on new laws and, in the case of Bojo's criticisms of certain specific laws, complete fabrication. Indeed, Bojo actually championed some of the laws he quoted as being forced on us by the EU.
Turkey's potential membership of the EU, which was used by some Leave campaigners as a threat to UK security, is rather undermined by the fact that the UK was for some time arguing for Turkey's potential EU membership to be accelerated. The Leave campaign were guilty of some pretty disgusting tactics in respect of this matter; even suggesting that Turkey's entire population of 76m people could suddenly all move to the UK if we stayed part of the EU and Turkey were granted membership.
I am not going to continue on through them all in this post, but it might be interesting if someone from either the Leave campaign or the 52% of those who voted in the referendum that chose 'leave' would actually offer up reasons for their stance that cannot be shot down so easily.
