Free of EU constraints, the UK can take its rightful place in the world: which is not as the great power imagined by some nationalists.
We are making ourselves a laughing stock.
It is almost as if, in order to protect our 'special relationship' with America, we have decided to demonstrate that we too can make catastrophically stupid decisions. However, whilst America might get away with just one term with the Orangutan in the White House, which if he doesn't start a nuclear war, might not lead to damage that can't be rectified by his successor.
The UK, desperate for a way of distracting the world from the madness of US politics, took the rather drastic step of voting the leave the EU.
It might have worked. The rest of the world, stunned by the idiocy of our decision, may well have taken their eye off the orange buffoon serving a term as POTUS. However, with Trump the Chump being desperate to keep showing what a completely ignorant narcissist he is, the eyes of the world are continually flickering between the two competing absurdities.
