When I heard the news, earlier this afternoon, that the Commission on Presidential Debates had declared that the second Presidential Debate of 2020 would be held virtually, I was immediately attracted to the possibility that the moderator might actually manage to better control the debate.
I guess it should not therefore have been much of a surprise that the orangutan president swiftly announced that he would not be taking part. He even seemed to admit that he feared having his microphone turned off; and effective way of stopping him from rudely interrupting his opponent, ignoring the moderator and speaking for longer than permitted.
If President Chump does indeed refuse to take part, and isn't convinced by his close advisers to actually try acting presidential, former Vice-President Biden should be given the platform to answer the questions posed by the moderator and the audience participants, who are due to pose questions to the two candidates.
The American public deserve to see the two main candidates face the questions, not only of the moderator, but of the selected audience members. If one of them is to 'chicken' to join in, his absence and lack of respect for the electorate should be amplified by showing his empty chair.
